Interview Type: On-Campus/Internship/Full-Time

Result: Selected (Internship for 6 months + Full time)

Difficulty: Medium to Hard

Rounds: 4 rounds

Topics Asked: Aptitude (Probability, Ratio and Proportions, Interest, Profit and Loss, Time and Work, Age Problems, Logical Reasoning, Basic Mathematics), Technical MCQs (Operating Systems, Computer Networks, Linux, IoT, Cloud Computing, OOPs, Guess the output, Error correction), Coding (DSA), Projects, Preferred Programming Language (Python), Exception Handling, Behavioral (School life, college choice, campus culture, family background, languages, why HPE, excitement for HPE).

Experience:

Hewlett Packard Enterprise visited the college campus on September 9th for recruitment in two roles: Software Development/Software Automation and Quality Assurance. There was an 80% cutoff for classes 10 and 12, and a CGPA cutoff of 7.0. A total of 719 students were selected for the first round.

Round 1: Online Test
The online test had four parts:

  • Part 1 (20 Aptitude Questions, Medium Difficulty): Covered probability, ratio and proportions, interest, profit and loss, time and work, age problems, logical reasoning, and basic mathematics.
  • Part 2 (24 Technical Questions, Medium Difficulty): Focused mainly on Operating Systems, Computer Networks, Linux, IoT, and Cloud Computing.
  • Part 3 (12 C/C++/Java/Python Questions, Medium Difficulty): Candidates had the option to choose between C/C++ or Java/Python questions. All were multiple-choice, mainly on OOPs, guess the output, and error correction.
  • Part 4 (2 Coding Questions, Hard Difficulty): The language for coding depended on the choice in Part 3. One question was a variation of the Nobita number (Stepping Numbers) problem, and the second was to remove all non-lowercase or non-numerical characters from a string.
A total of 105 students were selected from this round.

Round 2: Technical Interview (1 hour 20 minutes)
The candidate was asked to introduce themselves and explain their projects. The interviewer then asked about their preferred programming language (Python) and proceeded to give coding questions on a whiteboard and online compiler. While the candidate wasn't asked about Computer Networks or Operating Systems, some friends were asked basic questions on these topics. The candidate was asked to explain Exception Handling in Python.

Round 3: Managerial Interview (35 minutes)
This round started with an introduction. Questions included: "He asked me about my school life and what I learned." "Asked me why I chose my current college and questioned me about how good my college's education is and how is the campus culture." Questions about family background and known languages were also asked. "What made me the most excited about HPE." The candidate was not asked technical questions, but many friends faced questions on OOPs, Computer Networks, Operating Systems, Real-world applications, and DSA.

Round 4: HR Round (20 minutes)
This was the final round. The candidate was asked to introduce themselves. Questions included why they chose this college, what they knew about HPE, and whether they had any plans for higher studies. The results were announced 2 days later, and the candidate was selected for an Internship for 6 months + Full time.
