Topics Asked: Networking, DSA, DBMS, OOPS (Inheritance, Shallow vs Deep Copy), String and Array manipulation, Resume-based questions, Situational questions.

Experience:

HSBC visited the campus for on-campus hiring for the Software Engineer Trainee role. The process involved 3 online elimination rounds, followed by 1 Technical Interview and 1 HR Interview.

Round 1 (MCQ Round): This round consisted of MCQs related to CSE subjects such as Networking, DSA, and DBMS. Questions were not too hard, focusing on basics like OSI layer, time complexity, and SQL queries output. Results were immediate.

Round 2 (Coding Round): Two programming questions were asked, primarily related to String and Array manipulation. The specific questions were not recalled, but they were solvable with efficient data structures and algorithms.

Round 3 (Values Assessment Round): This was an online values assessment round with many situational questions where candidates had to pick two answers that best resembled them. This was also an elimination round.

Technical Interview: The interview started with an introduction. The interviewer asked about the candidate's proficiency in a programming language, then delved into OOPS concepts like Inheritance and the difference between shallow and deep copy. A "trick question" was also posed. Projects and internships were also discussed for some candidates.

HR Interview: This round began with a basic introduction and then focused heavily on the resume, including questions about internships and difficulties faced. Situational questions were asked, such as how to deal with seniors who disagree. A notable question was "Who invented Java?", which the interviewer initially disagreed with but was proven correct by the candidate using their phone.

Tips: Be honest, be prepared for resume-based questions, and practice basic CSE subjects and coding.
