This candidate was selected for a Software Engineer role after a comprehensive interview process that included 5 rounds.

Round 1: Coding HackerEarth Test

This was a 4-hour coding round where the candidate was tasked with developing an E-Commerce cart application using React, Redux, and Node.js. The candidate submitted their solution and was selected for the next rounds.

Round 2: Skype Online Interview

The interview began with self-introduction, followed by the interviewer explaining the company and the role. Questions asked included:

  • How HTML is rendered in a browser.
  • The flow when running a single-page web application (SPA).
  • Why `` is used and what happens if it's not included.
  • Difference between `async` and `defer` in script tags.
  • Some CSS questions.

Round 3: Skype Video Interview

This round also started with an introduction. Questions covered:

  • Importance of HTTP headers.
  • Difference between `sessionStorage`, `localStorage`, and `cookies`.
  • How a webpage loads and its architecture/flow.
  • How Virtual DOM works in React.
  • What Shadow DOM is in HTML5.
  • React Component lifecycle.
  • Difference between React and Angular, and which is better.
  • Event loop and how `setTimeout` works.
  • Promises chaining and how callbacks differ from promises.
  • Explanation of a proud development project.

This round lasted almost 2 hours and went well. The candidate received a call from HR the same evening, confirming they cleared the first two rounds and were invited for further rounds in Bangalore, with flight tickets booked by the company.

Round 4: Managerial Round (Engineering Manager)

This round was not heavily technical. The manager tested domain knowledge and skillset. It involved a friendly conversation about previous company experience, testing experience, and open-source contributions mentioned in the resume.

Round 5: Last round with Co-Founder

The co-founder was described as friendly. This round involved normal HR-related questions to assess communication and leadership qualities.

The candidate received a selection email the next day.
