Experience:

The candidate interviewed for the SDE3 position at Groww in December 2024, with a total of 5 rounds.

Round 1: Machine Coding (2 hours): The question was to "Design a stock exchange platform." This involved allowing buyers and sellers to place bids, where buyers could buy at an amount lower or equal to the bid, and sellers could sell at an amount higher or equal to the bid. The expectation was to implement a working solution. The candidate successfully implemented and demonstrated the solution with interviewer-provided examples.

Round 2: HLD (High-Level Design) (1 hour): The question was to "Design a system to monetize an API-based service (e.g., Google Maps) with subscription plans." The system needed to track incoming API calls per user, enforce usage limits based on subscription tiers, and proactively notify users as they approached their limits. The candidate provided a near-satisfactory solution.

Round 3: LLD (Low-Level Design) (1 hour): The task was to "Design a system to create, store, and update SIPs (Systematic Investment Plans) and create/schedule transactions corresponding to the SIPs." The interviewer extensively questioned concepts like versioning, database schema, and concurrency. The interviewer seemed satisfied with the answers.

Round 4: HM (Hiring Manager) (1 hour): This round involved standard hiring manager questions, discussions around past projects, the ideation-to-deployment cycle, and behavioral questions. The interviewer was reportedly happy with the responses.

Round 5: HR (1 hour): This round consisted of standard HR questions. The interviewer was satisfied.

The final verdict was that the candidate was hired.
