Experience:

This interview experience, shared by Taniya Gupta, was for a 6-month internship at American Express, part of an "AmExpert Event" in 2021. The hiring process included a coding round followed by a series of interviews.

Round 1: Online Coding Assessment

This round was described as different from usual coding assessments, being more like a hackathon. The five coding problems (medium-hard difficulty) were based on real-life scenarios faced by credit card companies, involving risk mitigation and requiring raw input data pre-processing.

Round 2: Technical Interview

This was a completely technical round. The candidate was asked:

• Two coding questions based on maps and comparator functions.
• Python-related questions (as Python was mentioned in the resume).
• In-depth questions on CS Fundamentals: ACID properties, IPv4 vs IPv6, paging in OS.
• Several SQL queries for given problem statements.
• Discussion on projects mentioned in the resume.
• Questions to check knowledge about American Express and its work.

Round 3: Technical + HR Interview

This round was conducted by a Director at American Express. It started with three puzzles to check cognitive skills, all of which the candidate solved.

• Questions on CS fundamentals, technical interests, and basic system design.
• Discussion of projects from the resume.
• A few basic HR questions to assess fit for the role and organization.

The interview ended on a very positive note, and the candidate was selected for the internship.
