Experience:

The candidate, a Mechanical Engineering graduate from NIT Bhopal, was interviewed on August 16, 2022, for the Integrity Engineer role. The process involved a Group Discussion (GD) followed by a single main interview with a panel of three members.

The interview began with a self-introduction. For about 15 minutes, technical knowledge was assessed, focusing on the candidate's winter training, minor project, research paper, and ongoing major project. Questions from Strength of Materials were asked, including "What are the structures that you see in your real life and how do they fail?"

Following technical questions, a guesstimate question was posed: "the number of traffic signals in my home town," where the candidate provided 3-4 assumptions for the estimate. Behavioral and communication skills were highly emphasized. Questions included: "What would you do if a person in your team is too aggressive and does not do any work?", "What do you think about the advantages of working in a team?", "Is there any case when you have pitched an idea which proved to be successful during your project?", "We don't make robots here, whatever you learnt will not work here, then why should we choose you and why you wanted to join ExxonMobil?", "We have different roles like technical, management etc, which role would you like to prefer?", and "You have so much patience, tell us a case when you have scolded someone."

The interview lasted 45 minutes, and results were announced after an hour. The candidate enjoyed the process, finding the interviewers amazing and the experience above expectations. The overall observation was that behavioral and communication skills were given more importance than technical ones.
