Interview Type: Off-Campus

Result: Incomplete (Cancelled midway by candidate)

Rounds: Phone Call with Recruiter, Online Assessment, Round 1 (DSA + Coding + Projects)

Topics Asked: Current work experience, story writing, DSA (easy/medium), CS MCQs, projects (in-depth), LeetCode Hard (Design In-Memory File System - ls and mkdir/create functions).

Experience:

The candidate, with 2.5 years of experience as an SDE-2 at a mid-sized public company, was contacted by a DevRev recruiter in November 2021.

Phone Call with Recruiter: The recruiter explained the company and the role and asked about the candidate's current work experience. Surprisingly, the candidate was then asked to write a story of at least 500 words about their journey so far, with a warning that failing to meet the length requirement would lead to elimination.

Online Assessment (OA): After submitting the story, the candidate received a link for an OA on the CodeSignal platform. The OA was 1.5-2 hours long and comprised 3 easy/medium DSA coding questions and a few easy CS MCQs. The candidate completed it well within time and was confident of qualifying.

Round 1 (DSA + Coding + Projects): This round lasted 1 hour and 20 minutes. The interviewer had prior experience with the candidate's previous company and teams, leading to an in-depth discussion about the candidate's resume projects for 30 minutes.

Following the project discussion, a coding problem was given on CodeSignal. The question was a LeetCode hard problem: "Design In-Memory File System" (specifically, implementing `ls` and `mkdir/create` functions). The candidate had solved this problem before and was able to do it easily during the interview. Although any language was allowed, the candidate was expected to use C++ due to their work experience. The round went well.

Result: The recruiter contacted the candidate a few days later to schedule the next round, but the candidate had received a good offer from another company and decided to withdraw from the DevRev interview process.
