Experience:

This Cognizant GenC Next 2nd Technical Interview experience from November 5, 2025, was described as one of the calmest and most respectful interviews. The female interviewer was polite, patient, and understanding, even waiting when the candidate got disconnected.

Round Type: Technical Interview (2nd Round) (Approximately 30 minutes, Online via Superset)

The interview flow included:

• Self-Introduction.
• Project Explanation: Discussion about the candidate's role, tech stack, and challenges.
• Questions on known programming languages.
• Coding Questions (Live on Compiler): Both were straightforward, requiring clean logic. The interviewer focused on understanding the thought process.
  • Q1. Reverse a String: Initially done using StringBuilder, then asked to re-implement using a loop to check logical clarity.
  • Q2. Remove Special Characters from a String: Input taken from the user, solved using basic iteration and condition checks (regex could also be used).
• Core Java Concepts Discussed:
  • Explain OOPs concepts (with real-world examples).
  • Constructors – Can they be overloaded?
  • Collections Framework – overview and use cases.
  • HashMap – basic working and when to use it.
  • ArrayList vs LinkedList – performance differences.
  • Wrapper Classes – what are they and where they're useful.
  • Exception Handling – try, catch, finally, and checked vs unchecked exceptions.
• JavaScript Basics:
  • Difference between let and var.
  • What is NaN (Not a Number) and when it occurs.
• HR-Type Discussion (at the End): Basic Yes/No questions about shifts, relocation, and tech stack flexibility, without situational or behavioral questions.

Overall Experience: The interview lasted around 30 minutes and felt more like a conversation. The interviewer valued clear explanations and patience over speed or perfection.

Advice for preparation: Be strong in Java fundamentals + OOPs + Collections + Exception Handling. Practice string-based coding problems. Speak your logic clearly.
