Experience:

This candidate from NIT, Bhopal, applied for an SDE - Intern role on campus and was rejected in the HR round.

Online Test (HackerRank) (1.5 hours)
The test was conducted on HackerRank and consisted of 6 coding problems. The candidate found it very difficult to crack, emphasizing the need for strong competitive programming skills for Codenation.

Round 1: Resume Walk-through
This round was a Google Meet call (or direct call due to internet issues). The interviewer went through the resume, asking for a walk-through of projects, with a particular interest in a live web development project. Questions related to JavaScript proficiency were also asked, such as explaining Asynchronous Programming and Promises in JavaScript.

Round 2: Coding Questions
Taken by an SDE 3 with a strong competitive coding background. The interviewer provided a Google Doc with two coding questions. The candidate had to explain the approach first and then code the solution for each. One question involved an efficient approach which the candidate had read about.

Round 3: HR Round
This round included basic HR questions like "Introduce yourself," "Why do you want to join us?", and "Tell me about your projects." The candidate felt they failed to convey their value for the position, leading to rejection.

Tips: Be great at competitive programming, focus on LeetCode for interview preparation, have at least 3 flagship projects in different domains, keep the resume clean, and do not mention skills you are not confident about. System design is important for good product-based companies.
