The hiring process for a Full-Time Employee (FTE) at Cloudera Bengaluru involved 5 rounds.

Round 1: Online Round (Coding Questions)
This round had no MCQs and was divided into two sections.

• Section 1: Contained 1 coding problem, 1 SQL query, and 1 File Handling question.
• Section 2: Contained 2 coding problems, from which only 1 had to be answered.

The overall difficulty was rated Medium, particularly due to the File Handling question in an online round.

Round 2: Technical Interview 1 (Google Hangout & Codebunk) (60 mins)
The primary focus areas were Algorithms & Data Structures, OOPs Concepts, and Operating System topics like threading and concurrency.

• What is Daemon Thread & Garbage Collector in Java?
• What are pillars of OOPs and explain with real-life examples?
• Explain your project and its applications?
• Codes on hashmap and explain Hashing.
• Code on FileHandling: read a file and count the number of "INDIA" in it.
• Merging of two sorted arrays (Merge function in merge sort).
• Given a String of length S, reverse the whole string without reversing the individual words in it.
• Difference between Process and Thread.

The interviewer was supportive and kind.

Round 3: Technical Interview 2 (Google Hangout) (1 hour 10 mins)
This round focused on Operating System, SQL, Computer Networks, and Linux (as mentioned in the candidate's CV).

• Questions based on projects involving Virtualization and Containerization, such as:
  • What is a kernel? Give some examples.
  • Can two different OS (both supporting the same kernel taste) be deployed with only 1 kernel using virtualization on the same machine?
  • Can two different OS (both not supporting the same kernel taste) be deployed with only 1 kernel using virtualization on the same machine?
• Working of DNS in Computer Networks.
• Difference between http and https in Networking.
• SQL Query to find the 2nd and 5th maximum marks of a student.

The interviewer was supportive and friendly.

Round 4: Hiring Manager Round
The engineering manager discussed their career journey and the importance of working in an Open Source company.

• Different Searching and Sorting Algorithms.
• Which sorting algorithm to apply in different scenarios (e.g., array already sorted, reverse sorted).
• Write any sorting algorithm on a whiteboard and explain its time and space complexity.
• Projects and their Use Cases.

Round 5: HR Round
This round involved typical HR-type questions.
