This SDE - Intern interview experience at CityMall started after the candidate received a referral and then a backend assignment.

Initial Round: Backend Assignment
A backend assignment was provided, which served as a screening step.

Round 1: Hiring Manager Round (60 minutes)
This round was conducted by the hiring manager. The candidate was asked several questions related to Java, Spring Boot, and APIs, as these were mentioned in their resume. The round concluded with a Data Structures and Algorithms problem. The specific problem mentioned was "The Celebrity Problem": "There are 'N' people at a party. Each person has been assigned a unique id between 0 to 'N' - 1 (both inclusive). Given a helper function 'knows(A, B)', it returns 'true' if the person having id 'A' knows the person having id 'B' in the party, 'false' otherwise."
