Detailed experience

Interview Experience: Software Development Engineer Round 1: Hiring Manager Round (Approx. 60 minutes) This round was a mix of behavioral questions and algorithmic problem-solving, followed by a lengthy two-way discussion. Behavioral & Leadership Principles (15-20 mins): Tell me about a time you had a critical deadline. How did you handle a situation where a project deadline was preponed or postponed? Share an instance where you received critical feedback from a manager and how you acted on it. Describe a time you had a conflict with a teammate and how you resolved it. Data Structures & Algorithms (15-20 mins): Problem: Best Time to Buy and Sell Stock IV (At most k transactions). Follow-ups: A few easy variations on state optimization and space complexity. Reverse Interview / Discussion (20-25 mins): The remaining time was spent on a deep discussion about the future of software engineering in the age of GenAI, navigating the learning curve from junior to senior roles, the value of a PhD, and focusing on system design fundamentals. Round 2: Hiring Manager Round (Approx. 45-60 minutes) This round focused heavily on resume deep-dives, specific technical implementations, and another algorithmic problem. Project Deep Dive (15-20 mins): Thorough discussion on an LLM Observability Gateway project from my resume. Heavy focus on data privacy, specifically handling and masking PII (Personally Identifiable Information). Questions around mitigating prompt injection and specific definitions related to LLM security architectures. Data Structures & Algorithms (20 mins): Problem: Find the longest subarray where the absolute difference between any two elements is less than or equal to 1. Expected Approach: Started by explaining the brute-force approach (checking max and min for all subarrays) and then optimized it using a Sliding Window approach (utilizing maps/frequency arrays to track the elements and maintain the condition). Note: The interviewer was highly focused on the specific mathematical properties of the subarray (i.e., that a valid subarray can only contain at most two distinct elements: x and x+1). Expect pushback on edge cases and definitions (like subarray vs. subset) during the dry run. Domain / GenAI Knowledge (10 mins): Questions on Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and its implementation. Situational questions on leveraging AI for Testing and QA pipelin
