Round 1: Online Assessment: Eligibility criteria was 7+ CGPA But they allowed only 8+ CGPA to attempt the OA. It was a 60 min test. One large codebase was given and with the help of AI assistant which was given, we need to implement some functionalities which we were asked to. The AI bot mostly generated the code if you provided the right prompt. It took time to debug and fix errors. But it's doable. People with >=500/600 marks were selected for next round. Out of around 120 students who appeared for Online assessment, 37 were shortlisted for next round. Round 2: HR round: Unlike other companies, Optum takes HR interview first then technical. This was not a very serious and difficult type of round. It lasted around 10 mins. Questions were: Introduction, why Optum, Goal in life, One difficulty in project and how did you solve, any feature you implemented which you liked the most and then interviewer asked if I had a few questions. After this round, 25 students were selected out of 37. Round 3: Technical round: This round was different for most of the people due to different panels. For me, it was a very new experience. In technical side, I was asked questions like: If you can eliminate any one pillar of OOP, what will you eliminate and why? What is Process and a Thread. Questions on git like git rebase, branching, git merge, merge conflicts. A very simple DSA question like given a 2D matrix, find kth smallest and kth largest: Expected approach was like convert to 1D and sort and explain various sorting algorithms. No need to write code just explain in a piece of paper. Also, about projects, I was only asked about explain any one of our projects with no follow up questions. Some other questions were: Tell me something about you not in your resume. Design the architecture of Amazon Imagine you are the manager of an AI powered food processing/manufacturing company. Pitch your business idea to the investors. I was given 1 min time to prepare and then I had to pitch my idea, to which many follow ups wer asked like why should I invest in you, negotiations in equity etc. Also asked a few generic questions like why did you choose this college , what motivates you, how are you managing your core branch curriculum and software engineering, what is your goal in life? It lasted about 50-60 minutes. Result: 6 students were selected for the internship.
