Razorpay

I interviewed for the Razorpay SDE Intern position, and the process was quite technical from the beginning. What I liked about the interviews was that the discussion usually went beyond the first solution and focused on optimization and reasoning. The online assessment had a mix of core CS MCQs and coding problems. The coding section included problems from different areas of DSA, so I had to switch between approaches quickly. One of the problems involved finding the smallest subarray containing exactly K distinct elements. I used a sliding-window approach and had to carefully handle the frequency of elements while moving the two pointers. In the first technical interview, the interviewer started with my resume and asked about my projects. We discussed the architecture, technologies I had used, and some implementation decisions. After that, I was given a medium-level DP problem. I first explained the recursive solution, after which the interviewer asked me to optimize it using memoization. The next round was more focused on DSA and fundamentals. One question involved finding the MEX of an array without using extra space and in O(N) time. I initially described a straightforward solution and then worked toward the expected optimized approach. We also discussed DBMS concepts such as transactions and indexing, along with backend/API-related questions. The final discussion was more managerial. I was asked about my projects, challenges I had faced while building them, why I wanted to join Razorpay, and how I approach problems when working with a team. Overall, the process tested DSA, CS fundamentals, and whether I genuinely understood the projects and technologies mentioned on my resume.
