I appeared for the Microsoft Software Engineering Intern hiring process through my college campus. The first stage was an online assessment with two LeetCode-style coding problems. The questions were around easy-medium to medium difficulty, and I focused on solving both efficiently while checking edge cases. Recent Microsoft campus experiences have reported similar two-question OAs, including greedy and DP problems. After clearing the OA, I had my first technical interview. The interviewer started with a brief introduction and then moved directly to DSA. I was asked problems involving string permutations and detecting a cycle in a graph. I explained the brute-force approach first and then discussed the optimized solutions, including their time and space complexity. The interviewer also asked some Operating Systems questions and went through my projects in detail. Similar recent campus reports mention DSA, OS and project discussions in the first round. The second technical round was more focused on problem-solving and core CS. I was given a linked-list problem involving finding the intersection point of two linked lists. Instead of accepting just one solution, the interviewer asked me to discuss multiple approaches and compare their complexities. We also discussed processes, multithreading and some OOP concepts. The final discussion was more behavioral and resume-focused. I was asked about my projects, teamwork experiences, challenges I had faced and why I wanted to join Microsoft. I was able to perform well across the interviews and received confirmation that I had been **selected for the Microsoft SWE Internship**. The biggest takeaway for me was that Microsoft evaluates not only coding ability but also how clearly you explain your reasoning and how deeply you understand your projects and CS fundamentals.
