I applied off-campus for the Atlassian SWE Intern role and was shortlisted for the interview process after the coding assessment. The OA had three DSA problems with medium-to-hard difficulty, and the questions required good understanding of standard problem-solving patterns. Publicly shared Indian internship experiences also report three-question OAs and DSA-heavy assessments. After clearing the OA, I had a technical interview. The interviewer gave me a DSA problem and expected me to explain my approach before writing code. The initial problem was manageable, but there were multiple follow-ups that changed the constraints and required me to optimize the solution. This was the part I found most challenging because the interviewer was interested not just in whether my code worked, but in how I reasoned about complexity and edge cases. Similar Atlassian intern experiences report a single DSA problem with follow-ups, including DP and prefix-sum based questions. The final round was more behavioral/managerial. I was asked about my projects, teamwork, situations where I had handled disagreements, and examples related to Atlassian's values. I had prepared my projects well, but some of the behavioral follow-ups caught me off guard. Overall, the process was quite different from a purely DSA-focused interview. I was comfortable with the coding part, but I couldn't perform consistently across the technical follow-ups and values discussion. A few days later, I received the rejection email. The experience taught me to prepare not only DSA but also structured behavioral answers and detailed explanations of my projects.
