I appeared for the Microsoft Software Engineering Intern hiring process through my college campus placements. The process started with an online coding assessment consisting of two DSA problems. Both were around easy-medium to medium level, and I focused on getting the optimal solutions rather than just passing the sample cases. After the OA, I was shortlisted for the interview rounds. The first technical interview was mainly focused on DSA. I was given an array-based problem involving finding the longest subarray with consecutive elements. I first explained the brute-force approach and then discussed how it could be optimized to O(n). The interviewer then pushed me further and asked whether it was possible to solve it in a single pass. I explained my reasoning and eventually arrived at the optimized approach. We also discussed time and space complexity and edge cases. Similar questions have been reported in Microsoft on-campus interviews. The second round involved another DSA problem along with questions from my resume and projects. I was asked to explain the architecture and my contribution to one of my projects in detail. There were also questions around OOPs, operating systems and basic computer science fundamentals. The final round was a combination of technical and HR/managerial discussion. I was asked about my projects, teamwork, strengths, and why I wanted to join Microsoft. Overall, the interviews were challenging but interactive. I focused on explaining my thought process clearly instead of jumping directly into code. After completing the rounds, I received the confirmation that I had been **selected for the Microsoft SWE Internship** through campus placements.
