I applied for the Software Engineer Intern position at Deutsche Bank through an off-campus application. My resume was mainly focused on DSA, backend development, and projects, so I was expecting the process to start with an online assessment. Deutsche Bank’s internship hiring process can vary by location and cycle; some recent candidates have reported an assessment containing reasoning, numerical, behavioral and algorithmic-style questions, while India-focused SDE experiences have included a dedicated coding test followed by technical interviews. In my case, however, I did not get that far. After submitting the application and waiting for an update, I received a rejection without being invited to an OA or interview. There was no coding round, technical interview, HR round, or project discussion for me. I also did not receive any specific feedback explaining why my application was filtered out. I had prepared for the technical stages because Deutsche Bank's previous SDE internship processes have involved DSA, OOP, DBMS, OS and resume-based questions. One India SDE experience reported a 90-minute HackerEarth test with three coding problems, followed by a technical interview where the candidate was asked about DSA and core CS subjects. For preparation, I was concentrating mainly on arrays, strings, trees, graphs, dynamic programming and standard problem-solving patterns. I was also revising SQL, DBMS, operating systems and OOP because these subjects appeared repeatedly in reported Deutsche Bank technical interviews. Resume preparation was another important part since several candidates were questioned deeply about the technologies and projects they had mentioned. The frustrating part was that none of this preparation actually came into play in my application. The process for me was simply application → rejection. I didn't get an opportunity to demonstrate my coding ability or discuss my projects with the technical team. There was no detailed rejection feedback either, so I couldn't identify a particular technical weakness from this application. Overall, it was a short process from my side, but it reminded me that an internship application can end during screening before the technical evaluation even begins.
