I appeared for the Business Analyst Intern opportunity at Flipkart through the on-campus recruitment process at my college. The selection process started with an online assessment, which had two sections — 5 SQL questions and 45 aptitude questions. The SQL section consisted of 5 questions based on different query-writing concepts. The questions required a good understanding of SQL fundamentals, including things like filtering, aggregation, joins, grouping, and working with multiple tables. Since there were only five questions, each one carried reasonable importance, so I tried to be careful with the queries rather than rushing through them. The second section had 45 aptitude questions. This was the larger portion of the OA and covered quantitative aptitude, logical reasoning, and other general aptitude-based problems. The main challenge was managing the time because of the number of questions. Some questions were fairly direct, while a few required more calculation and thinking. After the OA, 8 students were shortlisted from my college for the next stage. I was able to make it through the initial screening and was among those shortlisted candidates. The final selection was then made from these shortlisted students. There were 2 final selections for the Business Analyst Intern role. Unfortunately, I was not among the final two candidates. There wasn't a long sequence of technical interview rounds in the process I went through. The main evaluation was the initial OA followed by the final shortlisting process. Because of that, the OA played a significant role in determining who progressed through the recruitment process. Overall, the process was quite different from the usual Software Engineering recruitment drives where candidates generally face multiple DSA and technical interviews. For the Business Analyst Intern position, the assessment was much more focused on SQL and aptitude. The experience was still useful because it showed me that even when the technical section is small, every question can matter when the number of available positions is limited. With 8 candidates shortlisted for only 2 positions, the final competition was quite tight. My final status was Not Selected after the final shortlisting. Although I didn't make it into the final two, getting shortlisted among the 8 candidates gave me a good understanding of how the recruitment process worked and what I needed to improve for similar Business Analyst opportunities in the future.
