Round 1)First he introduced himself then asked me to introduce myself, then he simply told that I will be asking 2 dsa questions only so you have to go from brute better then optimal...Questions were really hard somewhere around 1600-1900 of codeforces Q1)you are given an array of months where months[i] denotes no of days in a particular month and you have to find maximum sum that you can obtain using m consecutive days ...traversal will be same as we do in calendar(ex:you start at 3rd day of a month having total 6 days then you can move to 3->4->5->6->1(of next month) and so on and after you reach last date of last month then you came to next year then follow the same calendar order(st with first day of first month) Solution:I gave him a sliding window approach as brute he was satisfied then increased constrained of n,m,months[i] all to 1e6 then I tell him my approach and he gave me few hints as well and I took my time then I was able to solve this problem(you try to find solution by your own first) Solution:I told him my approach of using binary and prefix sum .He was satisfied Q2:You are given a a tree/graph ,each node has a rally point that is calculated by multiplying every other node value and its distance from that node(ex: lets say we have node 3 as src node then 4 6 7 are directly connected to it means distance of 1 then rally point will be (4*1+5*1+6*1) same for every node at distance 2 3 and so on....you need to find maximum rally points I told him about my approach of using bfs and explained my approach then asked time complexity for this then he increased the constraints(1e5) so bfs failed there I thought for a few mins explaining all possible solutions I had then I came to final answer after 7 8 mins(guess how will you do it) Solution:Tree DP He asked me to code then I wrote pseudo code on paper he was looking satisfied and asked any doubt if I had so my round ended .I was feeling happy to be moving to 2nd round but since I m from tier 1 college having lot of competioton so as more person get interviewed I got rejected Learning:CPI matters a lot ,skills too, feel free to communicate with interviewer
