Experience:

The candidate applied for an Associate Software Engineer role through on-campus recruitment. Zscaler was offering 17 LPA (9 LPA in hand + stocks).

Video Meeting: A Zoom meeting provided information about the company, role, and package. It was explicitly mentioned that the online test would only be in Java/Python.

Round 1: Screening Round (HackerRank)

  • Format: 20 multiple-choice questions on computer science fundamentals (mostly computer networks) and 3 DSA coding questions (2 easy, 1 medium from LeetCode).
  • Coding Questions: One string question, one linked list question, and one tree question.
  • Outcome: The candidate solved the first two easy questions and almost fully solved the last one. They easily answered all MCQs due to thorough preparation in computer networks. The candidate qualified for the next round.

Round 2: Coding Round

This round occurred two days after the screening round.

  • Questions: Started with in-depth computer networking questions (OSI model). Followed by one easy and one medium DSA question.
  • Outcome: The candidate was able to solve all DSA questions but struggled with the deep networking questions. They still qualified for this round.

Round 3: Manager Round

This round focused on the candidate's experience and projects.

  • Questions: Asked to print prime numbers between 1-100. Many situation-based questions were also asked.
  • Outcome: The candidate managed to answer all questions and qualified for the next round.

Round 4: HR Round

Standard HR questions were asked. The candidate was selected.
