Experience:

This candidate, a Computer Science Engineering student, interviewed for an SDE - 1 role at Mobisy Technologies (Bizom) through an on-campus placement. The overall interview experience was described as awesome despite the rejection.

Round 1 (Online Coding Test): This round happened in college and lasted 1.5 hours. It consisted of two coding problems. The candidate attempted one problem, "Maximum XOR," which involved finding the maximum product of A and B such that A XOR B equals N. The brute force approach passed only 2 out of 10 test cases. The candidate also mentioned a graph problem. The coding questions were considered difficult.

Round 2 (Technical Interview - Face to Face): This round was conducted by the Director of Engineering, who had almost 20 years of experience. The interviewer was described as friendly and tried to make the candidate comfortable. The round lasted 60 minutes. Questions included:

  • "Tell me about yourself."
  • Questions about the candidate's choice of computer science over banking.
  • "What is the concept of async/await? Explain with an example."
  • "What is the difference between AngularJS and ReactJS? Why did I choose AngularJS?"
  • "What is your future plan? Where do you see yourself in 5 years or 10 years or 2 years for that matter?"
  • A situational question: "What if there are 2 projects like the following: 1. A new ReactJS application has to be built in iOS for Apple users. 2. An existing website where new features and UI changes needed to be implemented. Which one would you prefer and why?" The interviewer seemed interested in the candidate's eagerness to learn new technologies and adaptability.

The candidate was shortlisted for this second round, which was stated to be the final round for them, although others had an additional round (likely HR). The candidate was ultimately rejected because the company's positions were filled before their final round took place.

Tips and Suggestions: The candidate recommended having projects from different tech stacks (e.g., ReactJS, AngularJS for frontend; NodeJS, Springboot for backend), brushing up on CS fundamentals, and practicing coding skills, especially topics like Graphs and Dynamic Programming.
