Role: Software Development Engineer

College: IIIT Ranchi

Interview Date: Not Specified

Interview Type: Online, Full-Time

Result: Selected for UKG Pune Office

Difficulty: Not explicitly stated, but implies good proficiency needed in DSA and core CS concepts.

Rounds: 5 rounds (OA + 4 online interview rounds)

Topics Asked: DSA & CP, Communication, Project discussions (JWT, bcrypt, MongoDB vs RDBMS), SQL (joins, "No Department"), DSA (Rotate Linked List, full Linked List implementation), JWT authentication, session flow, user roles, ACID properties, NP Problems, Travelling Salesman Problem, Dijkstra, DFS, BFS (approaches), Java Streams, React Stateless Components, DBMS (RDBMS vs NoSQL), behavioral questions.

Experience:

This candidate, from IIIT Ranchi, received an exciting opportunity to proceed with UKG interviews after filling out a form and clearing an Online Assessment. The entire process involved an OA followed by four online interview rounds, all of which were elimination rounds.

Round 1: Online Assessment
The OA included one coding question, a SQL query, and approximately 20 MCQs.

Round 2: Technical Round 1 - 30 mins
This round was scenario-based, asking about browser navigation using a doubly linked list and jumping to a previous tab using a map + DLL (LRU-style). There was no coding, only explanation. Resume and project discussions covered JWT, bcrypt, and the use of MongoDB over RDBMS. A SQL question involved joining employee and department tables and showing "No Department" if unassigned. A DSA question was to Rotate a Linked List (similar to LeetCode 61).

Round 3: Technical Round 2 - 30 mins
The candidate was asked to implement a full Linked List (create, insert, delete, search). They also explained JWT-based authentication and session flow, described how user roles (buyer/seller) are identified after login, and discussed ACID properties.

Round 4: Director Round - 45 mins
The Director round inquired about familiarity with NP Problems and the Travelling Salesman Problem (concepts only, no coding). Approaches for Dijkstra, DFS, and BFS were discussed (no implementation). A simple SQL join query was spoken out. Java Streams and their use were explained, as were React Stateless Components. A deep dive into DBMS discussion covered RDBMS vs NoSQL and when to use which.

Round 5: HR Round - 15 mins
This round covered family background, "What does UKG do?", and preferred job location (Pune was chosen based on personal comfort).

The candidate found the overall interview process very smooth and well-structured and was selected for the UKG Pune Office.
