Experience:

The candidate, a 2023 Master CSE graduate, received a referral for the ASDE Backend position. They had strong DSA preparation (solved ~1000 LeetCode questions) and prepared HLD/LLD using online courses.

Round 1 (Online Assessment): This round included questions on computer science fundamentals, 1 easy-level DSA question, and 1 medium-level backend question related to API response.

Round 2 (Low-Level Design): The candidate was tasked with coding a solution for a game problem. Emphasis was placed on adherence to SOLID principles, object-oriented programming practices, and code readability.

Round 3 (LLD & HLD Discussion): This round was with a Senior Software Engineer. They reviewed the code from the previous LLD round, focusing on potential optimizations and enhancements for new features. Subsequently, the interviewer presented a live feature from Swiggy Instamart, and the candidate had to design APIs and schema for it. This round was moderately to highly challenging, with significant emphasis on both LLD and HLD.

Round 4 (Hiring Manager Round): The interviewer provided an overview of their team and tech stack. Discussions revolved around the candidate's projects and current role. There was also a discussion about Zomato due to an accidental reference by the candidate, leading to inquiries about their interview experience with Zomato. Topics like Kafka and RabbitMQ were also discussed, along with some managerial-level questions.
