Topics Asked: Data Structures & Algorithms (Knapsack, Excel Column Name, Coin Change), System Design (Vendor Onboarding, Campaign Redirection, LLM Context, ChatGPT UI)

Experience:

This interview experience for an MTS4 role at Thoughtspot involved four rounds.

Round 1: DS Algo

  • Question 1: A variation of the Knapsack problem.
  • Question 2: Given a number, find its equivalent Excel sheet column name (e.g., 26 is Z, 27 is AA).

Round 2: DS Algo

  • Question 1: A variation of the coin change problem. Given an array of numbers where each number is binary but its value is in decimal (e.g., [0, 1, 10, 11...] have values of 0, 1, ten, eleven), and a number N, find the minimum number of elements from the given array to form N.

Round 3: Topics related to system design. The problems included designing a system where vendors onboard their products, and users are sent different campaigns (mail/SMS), with campaign links redirecting to the actual product vendor. It also covered designing a system for an LLM model that works fine but cannot retain conversation context, and users can have multiple chats.

Round 4: This round involved discussing a recent task performed by the candidate and designing a ChatGPT-based UI.

Verdict: The candidate was rejected.
