Experience:

This candidate applied for an SSE (Frontend) role at ThoughtSpot and underwent four interview rounds, conducted over Google Meet and Zoom with 1-2 day breaks between rounds.

Round 1: A 60-minute round with one frontend implementation question. The task was to design a UI screen to display numbers from 1 to the end of the screen, implementing infinite scrolling using JavaScript and CSS.

Round 2: Another 60-minute round. It started with an introduction and project descriptions, followed by one coding question. The question was to check if a given word exists on a 2D board of letters, where the word could be constructed from adjacent cells (horizontal or vertical neighbors) without reusing the same cell more than once (similar to the "Word Search" problem).

Round 3: A 45-minute round focused on frontend design skills. The candidate was asked to design a chat service similar to WhatsApp. This involved explaining UI wireframes, planning APIs, and integrating APIs with the UI. Questions were also asked about web sockets, polling, long polling, and how to show the latest message for a user.

Round 4: This round was with the hiring manager. The candidate was asked to describe their projects in depth and faced a few technical questions on React and JavaScript.

Result: The candidate was informed that they underperformed in the coding round, leading to rejection. They found the interview process helpful for future opportunities.
