Experience:

Siemens PLM visited the college in the last week of September. The entire process was virtual due to COVID-19, with a Pre-Placement Talk and Online Test on the first day, and all three interview rounds on the next day. About 300 students took the online test, and 48 were shortlisted.

Online Test
Conducted on HackerEarth, it comprised 31 MCQs primarily on C/C++ (predict the output) and some on logical ability and quantitative aptitude.

Round 1: Technical Round 1
This round lasted about 1 hour with a two-interviewer panel. After introductions, questions covered interests outside technical fields, favorite books, and the four pillars of OOP with examples. In runtime polymorphism, they asked about how code works for virtual functions. A scenario was given with a Base class and three subclasses, asking how to identify which class a base class pointer points to at runtime. Differences between C++ and Java were discussed, and a coding question required finding if a second string is a substring of the first without using STL functions. Basic SQL knowledge was also tested. 20 students were shortlisted for the next round.

Round 2: Techno-HR Round
This round, lasting 35-40 minutes with one interviewer, started with an introduction. The interviewer asked the candidate to rate their C++ skills on a scale of 1 to 10. Subsequent questions were based on the candidate's answers, including "Tell me something about C++" and "What does object-oriented mean?". 11 students proceeded to the HR round.

Round 3: HR Round
A friendly interviewer conducted this 25-minute round. Questions included a quick introduction, "How was your day?", "How many companies did you interview before this?", "Why do you think you got rejected?", "Were Siemens interviews difficult than others?", "What are your interests?", "What do your parents do?", "Why did you take computer engineering?", "Explain what a pandemic is to someone hearing it for the first time," and a discussion on the Modi government's lockdown decision.
