Recruiter Screen: A quick introduction, discussion about the candidate's background and what they were looking for, and information about the team and projects.

Technical Phone Screen: This was a 60-minute pair programming session. The problem involved parsing an input format and performing straightforward operations using simple data structures and computer science fundamentals. The interviewer emphasized "getting the problem done" over efficiency.

Onsite: The onsite consisted of five rounds, conducted at their San Francisco office.

  • Debugging: The interviewer asked the candidate to download a particular revision of a codebase to find and fix a bug.
  • Experience & Goals: A behavioral interview with the potential manager, covering typical questions about experience and career goals.
  • Coding / Programming Exercise: A more algorithmic-based question than the phone screen, described as a toy version of a real Stripe problem. The focus was on proposing ideas and implementing a straightforward approach, with less emphasis on optimal time complexity.
