Experience:

This SDE-1 interview experience at Slice was for a final year Chemical Engineering student from IIT Guwahati during campus placements.

Preparation: The candidate prepared extensively using InterviewBit (initially), GeeksforGeeks, LeetCode (450 sheet), and a Demux Academy Bootcamp.

Round 1 (Technical - ~1 hour): This round started with a formal introduction. The interviewer asked about programming courses and CS fundamentals. Two coding questions were given, to be solved and explained on a Word document.

  • Coding Question: Write code for generating a bill for a pizza system, where the user passes size and toppings, and the system generates the bill.
  • The interviewer also asked detailed questions about the candidate's projects, including motivation, role in team projects, and implementation difficulties.

Round 2 (Technical - ~1 hour): This round followed shortly after the first. The candidate mentioned being asked difficult Dynamic Programming questions, specifically related to "Buy and Sell Stocks III or IV". (Note: The Medium article mentions "this round was also done then after 20 min my POC called bro only 1 student cleared 2nd round and its you and have a HR round in next 5 min", which is corroborated by the YouTube video by Chirag Vaishnav who also mentions facing DP questions like "Buy and Sell Stocks" in his second round for Slice. It's possible these are two different individuals, but the details align for a technical round.)

Round 3 (HR - 15 minutes): This was a relaxed HR round. The interviewer aimed to get to know the candidate personally, asking about their background, parents' occupations, and hobbies. Typical HR questions were avoided.

Overall Experience: The candidate felt the process was quick, with all rounds happening on the same day. Communication and thinking aloud were highlighted as crucial tips.
