Experience:

The interview process for the Trainee Engineer role at Publicis Sapient was well-structured with three rounds.

Round 1: Online Assessment
This 90-minute online assessment consisted of two coding questions. One question focused on string formatting, and the other tested understanding of abstract classes. Out of all candidates, 12 cleared this round.

Round 2: Technical Interview
The round began with a brief introduction, then quickly moved to Data Structures and Algorithms (DSA) questions. The first problem was based on Tries and Hash Maps, requiring the candidate to write their thought process. Follow-up questions involved Priority Queues and their applications. Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts were tested with a Library Management System question, discussing Java's Multiple Inheritance and the Diamond Problem. Topics like Threads vs. Processes, Multi-threading, and Thread Synchronisation were covered. Operating System (OS) concepts included Booting in OS and its working principles. Basic Computer Network (CN) concepts, such as "what happens when you search for something on Google," were also asked. The discussion shifted to Design Patterns and Exception Handling techniques. Projects were scrutinized, with questions on technology choices (e.g., "Why Python for all your projects?" and "Java vs. Python"). Additional questions on Kafka and advanced exception-handling packages were posed to check exposure. The candidate felt confident despite not answering 2-3 questions completely. After 10-12 days, the candidate cleared this round, with only 6 out of 12 proceeding to the final round.

Round 3: HR Round (Core Values Round)
This round was entirely HR-driven, focusing on situational and behavioral questions to assess alignment with Publicis Sapient's core values. Questions included: "How do you handle conflicts in a team?", "What is your decision-making process?", "What role does a leader play in a team?", "How would you react if a teammate weren't responding to you properly?", "Have you made any mistakes in your work? How did you handle them?", "How do you upskill yourself? Any recent certifications?", and "How would you deal with a senior colleague who has an ego issue and refuses to collaborate?".
