Experience:

This interview experience for Optym was for MTech Computer Science students and also for the OR Scientist role, conducted virtually through an on-campus drive.

Round 1: Written Test

The first round was an online written test that covered several sections.

  • **Aptitude, Logical Reasoning, and Verbal Questions:** These were generally of easy difficulty.
  • **Technical MCQs:** This section included multiple-choice questions from core Computer Science subjects such as Computer Networks, DBMS, OS, and DSA.
  • **Coding Section:** There were two coding questions. One was an easy question related to sorting, and the other was a graph problem of medium to hard difficulty.
  • **SQL Query:** An easy SQL query question was also part of this round.

The candidate was able to solve all MCQs, one SQL query, and one coding question, leading to shortlisting for the next round.

Round 2: Technical Interview

The second round was a technical interview that primarily focused on the candidate's projects and thesis topic.

  • The interviewer delved into the real-time uses, critical cases, and solutions implemented in the candidate's projects.
  • Questions were also asked about college subjects.
  • **Coding Question 1:** The candidate was asked to code the "Median of a Data Stream" problem while explaining the approach.
  • **Coding Question 2:** Another coding question involved returning elements of two BSTs in sorted form.

The results were announced the very next day, and the candidate was selected.

Tips: The candidate advised being confident and articulate, even when unsure of an answer, and to explain technical projects clearly.
