Detailed experience

Role: SWE (Software Engineer)

College: Btech from NIT

Interview Date: June 15, 2023

Interview Type: Full-Time

Result: Selected

Difficulty: Easy to Medium

Rounds: 4 rounds

Topics Asked: Data Structures (Hashing, Linked List, Stack, Sliding Window), Algorithms, C++ (Static/Dynamic polymorphism, Access specifiers, Name mangling, delete vs free), .NET (JWT, Interfaces, Dependency Injection, try-catch-finally, .NET core concepts), Projects, Behavioral

Experience:

This candidate with 2 years of experience interviewed for an SWE role in Bangalore. The process included an online assessment and multiple interview rounds, with the candidate being informed of their selection on the same day.

Online Assessment (OA - Codility):
This round consisted of two easy-level coding questions based on number theory.

Interview R1:
This technical round involved coding problems and discussions.

  • Coding: Print all pairs with a given sum (hashing-based solution).
  • Coding: Delete Kth node from the end of a linked list.
  • Coding: Longest substring with all unique characters (sliding window).
  • Discussion: Stack implementation using an array and a Linked List, including memory optimizations using a Linked List. The interviewer did not ask for code if the approach explanation was good.

Interview R2:
This round focused on coding and C++ concepts.

  • Coding: Reverse words in a sentence in one pass.
  • Coding: Delete a node from a linked list, given only the node address.
  • C++ concepts: Static and Dynamic polymorphism, Access specifiers, how static polymorphism works (name mangling), `delete` vs `free`, etc.

The candidate was later informed that a second Round 2 would be held for .NET technologies.

Interview R2 (again - .NET technologies):
This round included a coding question and .NET-specific technical topics.

  • Coding: Merge content of two lists (union).
  • Technical: JWT, Interfaces, Dependency Injections, try-catch-finally, and other .NET core concepts.

Manager Round:
General discussion about past experience, technologies, areas of interest, and reasons for wanting to switch jobs.

Director Round:
Discussion focused on projects, interests, reasons to switch jobs, and knowledge about Bangalore.
