Experience:

This GeeksforGeeks user shared their experience for a Software Engineer role at NatWest through an on-campus recruitment drive. The process consisted of an online assessment and a combined technical/HR interview.

Round 1: Online Assessment
This round had 50 questions: 2 programming questions and 48 MCQs (4 sections, 12 questions each).

MCQ topics included:

  • Database Management Systems (mainly SQL queries).
  • Object-Oriented Programming concepts.
  • Output prediction programming questions.
  • English Vocabulary (synonyms, phrases, passage reading).

The 2 programming questions were Easy to Medium level. An example given was "To find the sum of elements of an array." Questions varied for each candidate. The candidate was able to solve 1.5 out of 2 programming questions and performed well in the MCQs, leading to selection for the interview round.

Note: Some candidates who completed both coding questions were not called for an interview if their MCQs were not good, emphasizing the need to focus equally on both sections.

Round 2: Interview (Technical as well as HR)
This was a single interview round covering both technical and HR aspects.

Questions asked:

  • Brief Introduction about Myself.
  • Questions from the Resume.
  • Projects discussion, specifically the first project on the resume.
  • Since "Problem Solving" was on the resume, interviewers asked about the last problem solved (Rotten Oranges problem - a famous graph problem).
  • Application of the Rotten Oranges problem in real-world scenarios, using examples from a social media app (e.g., spreading rumors).
  • OOPs concepts in C++, including the Diamond Problem in C++.
  • "What do you know about NatWest?" (prepared from Pre-Placement Talk).
  • "Why should we hire you?"

The candidate received a selection email the next day.
