Experience:

The candidate applied for an SDE III role in Atlassian (Seattle) through a referral and was directly shortlisted for interviews. There were 4 rounds in total: 2 DSA, 1 System Design, and 1 Behavioral.

Round 1: DSA Round

Two questions were asked, to be solved in 45 minutes.

• Question 1: Serialize and Deserialize a Binary tree.
• Question 2: Last Day you can still cross.

The candidate solved and coded both, receiving good feedback despite messy variable naming for the second question due to time constraints.

Round 2: DSA Round

This round was with a more experienced interviewer, leading to "very odd questions".

• Question: Merge k Sorted Lists. The candidate solved it in 15 minutes, then was asked to implement it using a multiset instead of a Heap. Discussions followed on the internal implementation of multiset and Red Black Trees.

Round 3: System Design Round

The question was to "Design a product Management Tool like Jira". This round went well.

Round 4: Behavioral Round

Atlassian takes behavioral rounds very seriously. The candidate prepared extensively and used the STAR method. An offer was received.
