Experience:

McKinsey visited the college campus in September 2022 for the Software Developer Full-Time role. Round 1 was a game designed to assess aptitude and critical thinking skills. Approximately 100+ students received the test link, followed by 300.

Round 2 consisted of two coding questions. The first question, "Get the groups," was based on Disjoint Set Union or Graph concepts, involving students forming groups based on query types and reporting the final number of groups. The second coding question was a graph problem requiring moving a product from one node to another in the shortest time. The candidate solved both questions completely, though the graph question was not fully optimized (12/15 cases passed). 20 students were shortlisted for the next round.

Round 3 was a code pair round with a McKinsey staff member. The candidate was given a DP string-based problem that also used graph concepts, permutations, and combinations. The candidate coded a brute-force approach and explained their logic, surprisingly getting called for the next round.

Round 4 was a technical round. The interviewer delved into the candidate's internship project (ML-based) for about 30 minutes. Questions primarily focused on OOPs, DBMS, and CN, including the detailed application of OOPs in the Deep Learning project. Six people were selected after this round.

Round 5 was the HR Round. Questions covered achievements such as Hackathons, Leetcode contests, and CodeChef ranks. The overall experience was positive, leading to progression through all rounds.
