Mastercard conducted an on-campus recruitment drive for Software Development Engineer (SDE) Interns. The process involved 4 rounds: a Coding Round, Technical Interview 1, Technical Interview 2, and an HR Round.

Round 1: Coding Round
This was an online assessment with two coding questions of easy to medium difficulty. Both questions were based on fundamental Data Structures and Algorithms (DSA). The first question involved array operations, and the second focused on string manipulation with a challenging logic. The candidate passed all test cases and was shortlisted for interviews.

Round 2: Technical Interview 1 (30-40 mins)
This round primarily focused on the candidate's resume. Interviewers asked about the technical implementations of projects, the tech stacks used, and the reasons behind technology choices. Questions also covered Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts, requiring explanations with practical examples. Basic Database Management Systems (DBMS) concepts like normalization were also discussed. The interviewer inquired about challenges faced during project development and how they were overcome.

Round 3: Technical Interview 2 + HR Interview (30-40 mins)
This round was a combination of technical and HR questions with two interviewers (one technical, one HR). Technical questions included REST APIs and their integration, ER diagrams for a given case, and fundamental questions on HTML, CSS, and database management. DSA questions involved explaining approaches to basic array and string manipulation problems, and memory allocation in stacks and heaps. The HR portion covered questions like "Why Mastercard?", "What attracted you to the company?", "Why should they hire you?", and other behavioral questions. The candidate also asked questions about the team and potential opportunities.
