Experience:

This candidate from an NIT (Tier 1) was offered the role of Graduate Engineer Trainee (SDE 1) at Jubilant FoodWorks in Gurgaon, with an offer date of September 15, 2022.

Online Assessment (Day 1):

The online assessment was considered "quite easy". It comprised 2 DSA-based coding questions (20 minutes each) and 30 MCQs on DSA, DBMS, SDLC, and Computer Networks (50 minutes).

The coding questions were:

  • Given a number n, find if it is a prime number. The candidate used a traditional approach.
  • LeetCode Jump Game II. The candidate had previously solved this and used a known approach.
MCQs were medium level, including questions about ACID properties.

Technical Interview I (Day 2):

This round lasted 60 minutes. The interviewer was frank and started with an introduction and hobbies. He asked about favorite subjects and why.

Questions included:

  • "How will you delete an element from a linked list?" The candidate provided the general approach.
  • "What are ACID properties, give examples of all." The candidate explained definitions and gave examples.
  • Follow-up on ACID: "If 2 people are trying to book a ticket at the exact same time, coincidentally exact upto microseconds, what will happen?" The candidate, with hints, recalled concurrency control algorithms.
  • The 3Sum problem: The interviewer insisted on an O(n) time complexity solution, which the candidate found challenging. After 30-35 minutes, the interviewer moved on.
Despite the difficulty with the 3Sum problem, the candidate was shortlisted for the final round.

Technical Interview II (Day 3):

This interviewer was also described as "chill". The round began with an introduction, discussion of life goals, and "why Jubilant".

Questions involved:

  • Personal projects and hackathons.
Finally, the interviewer asked if the candidate had any questions. The candidate inquired about the work culture. That night, the candidate received the selection email.
