The interview process for the Application Engineer role at IDFC First Bank started with an online assessment on the HirePro platform. This assessment comprised three segments: an Aptitude Test (20 minutes, 15 MCQs on Quantitative Mathematics and Logical Reasoning), Technical Questions (25 minutes, 20 MCQs on SQL, MS Excel, Programming Basics, and Basic Statistics), and Coding Questions (45 minutes, two relatively straightforward coding problems, one related to trees and another to matrices).

Round 2, Technical Interview 1, was conducted on Microsoft Teams and lasted approximately 15 minutes. The interviewer asked for a self-introduction, followed by an in-depth discussion about the candidate's projects, particularly one involving Three.js. Questions included project motivation, technology stack, and recent advancements in gaming technology. A technical question on callback functions in Node.js was also posed.

Round 3 was a combined Technical + HR Interview, lasting about 12 minutes with two interviewers. This round covered personal background, a detailed discussion of the candidate's final year project (Machine Learning-based), including a scenario question about dividing texts into positive and negative parts (sentiment analysis). Standard HR questions about strengths and weaknesses were also asked. The candidate was asked if they had any questions about the company's training programs. The candidate was successfully selected after this round.
