ION visited the campus for a recruitment drive offering Software Engineer and Technical Analyst roles. The process involved an Online Assessment, 2 Technical Interviews, and 3 HR/Strategic Interviews.

Online Assessment: Described as straightforward, with over 150 candidates passing this stage.

Technical Interview — Round 1: Started with a standard "Tell me about yourself" introduction. A modified version of the "Banana Desert" puzzle was encountered. OOP concepts were thoroughly discussed, expecting an explanation of the pillars and a design of a traffic light system using OOP principles, including managing road IDs. Data Structures questions involved finding the second largest element in an array or stream with multiple modifications, leading to discussions on brute-force (O(N²)), sorting, priority queue/set, and finding max/second max in O(N). The candidate proposed an ordered set or priority-based data structure solution, which the interviewer seemed unfamiliar with. Detailed inquiries were made about projects listed on the resume.

Technical Interview — Round 2 (Business Strategy Focus): This round presented a scenario comparing two companies (established/sales-driven vs. newer/fast-growing in social media). The candidate was asked to conduct a SWOT Analysis and suggest growth strategies to increase revenue and visibility for the established company.

HR/Strategic Interviews (3 rounds): One of these rounds was with the Head of the Pune Office, a brief 5-minute interview due to time constraints, covering personal introduction, flexibility towards work responsibilities, and experience in college clubs and prior internships.
