Rounds: 2 rounds (Assignment + Telephonic)

Topics Asked: Web Development (HTML/CSS, JavaScript, Restful Routing), Image Processing (OpenCV), Projects, Data Structures & Algorithms, DBMS, SQL, OOPs, Computer Fundamentals (OS, CN)

Experience:

The candidate applied for an SDE Intern position through Innovaccer's website in November 2019 for the "Summergeeks" program.

Round 1: Assignment

Candidates were asked to build an "Entry Management web app" within a week. The app needed Check-In (visitor and host details, SMS/email to host) and Check-Out (visitor email verification) functionalities. Any tech stack was allowed. Around 80 students were shortlisted.

Round 2: Telephonic Round

This was the final round. The interviewer started by discussing projects from the candidate's resume, asking about technologies used. For an Image Processing project, questions on OpenCV functions and libraries were asked. For web development, questions on HTML/CSS tags, JavaScript topics (IIFE, callbacks, hoisting, this keyword, == vs ===), and Restful Routing were covered.

Following project discussions, data structures and algorithm questions were asked:

  • Detect a loop in a Linked List.
  • Merge Sort.
  • Find the middle of a Linked List in one pass.
  • Explain all functions of Priority queue using min heap.
  • A question based on Topological Sort.
  • Time and Space Complexities of Dijkstra's Algorithm and Counting Sort.
Finally, two MySQL questions were asked:
  • SQL query to find the second highest salary.
  • SQL query to find the second highest salary without using a nested query.
Other candidates were reportedly asked about OOPs concepts and other CS fundamentals (OS, CN). The interview heavily focused on projects.
